Commercial Counsel offers you the service of a General Counsel without the commitment of employing your own in-house team.

You will get a fully trained legal consultant at a fraction of the cost of employing a lawyer or outsourcing to a traditional legal firm on a project by project basis.

And they will have the best bits of an in-house lawyer, understanding what is important to your business and tailoring their approach to suit it.

We can help with all areas of business law but we know the most important thing for you is assistance that helps you to keep trading, makes you grow and is focused on the bottom line.

Our Story

After many years working in different sectors and industries as a General Counsel and Legal Director for individual companies, our founder Bhavisha Mistry, decided to use the experiences she developed to help more than just one company at time.

She didn't want to compromise the tailored service she provided when she acted in these capacities as an in-house employed lawyer.

A three time General Counsel, Bhavisha has set up tailored legal functions within companies, helping them to to transact and do business in their way, without impacting their unique approach.

Entrepreneurism and innovation are at the heart of what she does. Using the essence of the client's business and transforming legal matters into relatable terms and those that matter most to the business.

And when there's a problem to be resolved or a headache to be removed, Bhavisha will be as dedicated as you can get to help her clients out out.

Bhavisha started her career in private practice working in law firms Keoghs, Squire Sanders, Halliwells and Weightmans where she qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales and worked in the Corporate & Commercial department.

She moved in-house at only 3 years qualified at to act as General Counsel & Company Secretary for fashion brand Missguided. A rapid paced, fashion business that disrupted the clothing market for 16 - 25 year olds. Many said this was a brave move for Bhavisha as a junior lawyer but one in which she thrived for which she received an award from The Law Society of Engalnd and Wales and exposed her to the opportunity to complete some pretty awesome deals including opening up a flagship store in Westfield Stratford and endorsement deals with celebrities Pia Mia and Pamela Anderson.

From fashion Bhavisha went into pharmaceuticals, acting as General Counsel and Company Secretary for one of the major suppliers of medicines to the UK NHS, Mawdsleys. As well as completing international distribution deals for niche and big pharma, Bhavisha assisted its group company Positive Solutions develop and supply some impressive IT kits for UK pharmacies and well as Mawdsleys logistics in building sheds for the storage and shipment of pallets of medicines, including those dealing with the Covid pandemic.

Moving on from them Bhavisha went into retail for The Fragrance Shop acting for the brand with some of the most luxurious brands. Some highlights including acting for the business in its acquisition of retail space across the country growing its portfolio beyond 200 stores across the UK. She also completed a deal with UK artist Bugzy Malone, for the production of his first fragrance in a deal with Fragrance Shop's sister company Per-Scent.

Bhavisha is a passionate lawyer that works hard to achieve the very best results for her clients but is also mindful of using her experiences and knowledge to help support other lawyers. Via her other business Best Version of You and I, Bhavisha trains and teaches both existing and future lawyers. She particularly enjoys training lawyers to become trusted advisers.
